Mumbai: Indian merchant ship captain Sunil James, who was freed from Togo jail after being arrested on charge of allegedly aiding pirates, performed the last rites of his infant son Vivaan at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Orlem, Malad on Sunday noon.
Vivaan died on December 2 due to septicaemia,his body had since been in the morgue waiting for the release of sailor so that the toddler's last rites could be performed.
Vivaan was born on 12-12-12. He was 11 months old.
Many people had gathered at the cemetery for a glimpse of the infant. People unknown to the family walked up to Sunil and Aditi and offered their condolences. Family members later lit candles in front of a grotto near the church.
