Lucknow, Apr 25: Uttar Pradesh government has decided to construct baffle firing ranges in all eight police zones of the state to give training to recruits, replacing old ones surrounded by civilians, according to an official.
Except Chunar, most of the firing ranges to impart training to recruits were surrounded by population, hence posing threat to civilians, Inspector General of Police (law and order) R K Vishwakarma said yesterday.
Due to this, recruits were not getting a chance to do firing practice, he said.
Considering the situation, baffle firing ranges would be developed in eight police zones in the state for which all the IGs have been asked to identify the land, he said.
Around three acre land was required for each range, Vishwakarma said, adding that the ranges would be at places where there would be no threat to civilians.
