Patna Opposition meet: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, who returned to Chennai after participating in the opposition meeting in Patna, reiterated on Friday that all like-minded parties have a single goal to defeat BJP. The DMK President further said that no decision was taken on fielding a common prime ministerial candidate at the meeting but all parties resolved to consolidate against BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
‘BJP should not be allowed to win again’
Stalin said that all the parties that attended the meeting were very clear that the BJP should not be allowed to win again. "I had stressed that the parties should remain firm on their goal to defeat the BJP," the chief minister said upon his arrival here from Patna.
Stalin's seven suggestions to the Opposition
Briefing reporters on his visit, Stalin said he put forth seven suggestions including forming an alliance under the leadership of a party that wields influence in the state, and if this was not possible, then seat sharing could be considered.
He also suggested that there should be no post-poll alliance, but a common minimum programme should be agreed upon, and common candidates should be nominated where required.
Several opposition leaders gathered in Patna for a crucial meeting aimed at establishing unity ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
