Lucknow, Jun 23: In the first of its kind incident, a SpiceJet flight made an emergency landing at Amausi airport here on Thursday morning following a complaint of poisoning on board.
The passenger identified as Sumit Rajak was rushed to a nearby private hospital where his condition was said to be under control.
Reports said that the crew of Kolkata-Delhi Spice Jet flight number 604 alerted the staff at the Amausi airport about a medical emergency on board. Consequently the airport staff here went into action and kept a medical team available.
The flight landed at the airport at 8:35 am after which Rajak was rushed to nearby Ajanta Hosptal. He was admitted to the ICU.
“We received a call from the pilot of the flight about a medical emergency in the flight. As soon as the flight landed, we rushed the passenger to the hospital,” said Atul Dixit director of the airport.
Doctors at the hospital, however, said that Rajak had complained about chest pain and was provided the required treatment. They refused to comment on the possibility of a suicide attempt.
