New Delhi, Jul 17: There was mid-night drama near the Prime Minister's residence in New Delhi on Monday night.
A speeding Range Rover SUV hit a Toyota Corolla car, turned turtle and caught fire about 150 metres from the PM's residence, 7 Race Course Road.
There were reportedly two occupants in the vehicle; both of them survived the crash.
Firefighters soon rushed to the accident site and put the flames out. A crane was called in to remove the SUV from the road.
The yougnster was driving the SUV at a very fast speed. The SUV overturned following a collision with divider.
Police said, the youngster appeared to have lost control over the wheels at a traffic signal on Safdarjang Road. The Range Rover rammed into a Toyota Corolla, went flying into the air before turning turtle and caught fire.
Though both the cars were badly damaged, there were no injuries or death. No case has been registered by police as both the parties have reached a settlement.
The Range Rover fire was doused by three fire engines which rushed to the spot from a fire station nearby.
The Range Rover, sources said, belonged to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Gurgaon and was coming from Kamal Ataturk Marg at a high speed.
The driver of the vehicle Devinder had a friend with him, who had to reach Hotel Ramada. The Range Rover jumped the red light on Safdarjang Road, and rammed into the oncoming Corolla being driven by a Gautam Nagar businessman Rajneesh Chopra.
Chopra was travelling with one of his employees.
Eyewitnesses said, the driver and other occupant of the Range Rover fled from the scene after the accident, and later returned for a settlement. "There were two men and a woman inside the Range Rover, who fled in an auto after the crash", an eyewitness said.
