Madurai: A special “Yagna” invoking the blessings of the God for the release of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who has been sentenced to 4 years in jail in disproportionate assets case, was performed at the famous Sri Meenakshi temple here today.
More than 70 “Sivacharyars” (Priests) participated in the Yagna organised on behalf of AIADMK party volunteers and sympathisers of Jayalalithaa. The state Co-operatives Minister Sellur K Raju inaugurated the Yagna.
Members of the Madurai District Co-operative Housing Society also observed a fast in the city demanding the release of AIADMK General Secretary.
