Sikkim Assembly Polls Results Highlights: Sikkim Assembly elections 2024 witnessed a direct fight between the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF).
Sikkim Assembly Polls Results Highlights: The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) on Sunday returned to power in the Himalayan state for the second consecutive term as it won 31 seats in the 32-member assembly and secured majority, officials said. The SKM, led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, registered a massive victory over SDF. The main contest was between the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF). The BJP and the Congress were the other two important parties in the state but they were not in the leading role in the hill state. Soreng-Chakung, Poklok-Kamrang, Barfung, Rhenock, Namchaybong, Gangtok, Upper Burtuk, Rinchenpong and Yangthang are some of the key assembly constituencies in Sikkim. State Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (SKM), former Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling (SDF), Bhaichung Bhutia (SDF), Sonam Lama (SKM), Sonam Gyatso Lepcha (SDF), Hishey Lachungpa (SDF), Dilli Ram Thapa (BJP), Narendra Kumar Subba (BJP), Lall Bahadur Das (SKM), Sanjeet Kharel (SKM), Lok Nath Sharma (SKM) and Arun Kumar Upreti (SKM) were the key candidates in the fray for the assembly elections.

The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) on Sunday returned to power in the Himalayan state for the second consecutive term as it won 21 seats in the 32-member assembly and secured majority, officials said. The SKM, led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, is also leading in 10 other seats. Tamang won from Rhenock seat by over 7,000 votes. He is also leading in Soreng Chakung constituency. The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), which ruled the state for 25 years in a row till 2019, bagged just one seat, Elections Commission officials said.
