Vijaywada: In a shocking incident, a group of pilgrims was served 'rat biryani' from the pantry of the Thirukkural Special train.
The pilgrims were returning from Sabarimala, a Hindu pilgrimage center located in Kerala.
Venkateswar and three of his friends were served 'rat biryani' after they placed order for vegetarian biryani.
The incident took place just before the Nellore station when the four were served with their order. They said that the experience was very horrifying. As they opened the packets of vegetarian biryanis, they were shocked to see ‘fried' rats as an ingredient of the biryanis in their packed plates.
“We placed order for vegetarian biryanis but rat was found inside the packets of our biryani. I have registered a complaint,” Venkateswar said.
Satyanarayan, another commuter, said, “We found dead rats in our food... We have registered complaint at the Vijaywada railway station but they are saying that they can't look into the matter and fix the accountability.”
Meanwhile, when the Railway officials were contacted for their version, they said the complaint will be forwarded to the headquarters of South Central Railway in Hyderabad.
