A massive fire broke out at the generator car of Shatabdi Express at Ghaziabad railway station on Saturday morning. According to details available, the train was coming from New Delhi railway station and going towards Lucknow.
The train which halts at the Ghaziabad railway station for 2 minutes, resumed the journey after 1.5 hours. The guard of the train raised an alarm as soon as he spotted the blaze. Fire officials were rushed to the platform and a massive firefighting operation was launched. The situation was brought under after an hours.
The generator car was detached from New Delhi-Lucknow Shatabdi Express before it departed for its destination.
"Fire had broken out in New Delhi-Lucknow Shatabdi Express at 6:45 am. The affected coach was detached. All passengers are safe. Train departed at 8:20 am," Railways said in a statement.
Last Saturday, a fire broke out in a coach of the Dehradun-Delhi Shatabdi Express. The train's C-5 bogie caught fire near Kasro railway station.
