Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who returned to Mumbai after promoting his film in US and UK, said on Saturday that his remarks about taking Pak players for IPL were misinterpreted.
Speaking to media outside Mumbai airport, Shah Rukh Khan said; “Anything I say will be misinterpreted and turned around. I think it is all a misconception. I didn't say anything harmful about my country. I want close friendly relations with all countries. How can I become pro-Pakistan or any pro-country except pro-Mumbai? This city gave me everything to celebrate”.
Shah Rukh Khan said there was no need for anybody to protest against his film. “Why should they have to take steps to stop the screening of my film?”
The Bollywood superstar said he always enjoyed the company of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray. “Whenever he called, I met him and Uddhavji, but there is no reason for me to meet him on my own. I have already explained about my remarks and there is no issue about it”.
Khan told a reporter that one needed to understand that an IPL club could only take players for a definite slot and that was limited and it was upto Dave and Sourav to decide whom to take. “There are rules, you cannot take more than that”.
Khan was expected to speak to the media later in the evening. Kajol and Karan Johar also returned with him to Mumbai.
