Imphal, Apr 25: Seven militants of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party-Nongdren Khomba (KCP-NK) faction surrendered with arms before Manipur authorities, officials said here today.



The militants, including self-styled chief of the army of KCP-NK Laishram Gunamani alias Guru and its General Secretary Taibang Nganba, surrendered to the authorities on Tuesday.

They handed over two AK 47 rifles, one carbine and four pistols.

Nganba told reporters that they had laid down arms to participate in the peace process. Thirty more cadres of the group were also ready to hand over arms to the authorities in the next few days, he said.

Official sources said that more than 20 militant outfits were currently operating in the state.
