J&K: Schools to reopen after dip in Covid cases, says LG Sinha

Jammu and Kashmir had imposed a weekend lockdown in January this year to contain the surge in coronavirus cases.

Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha on Saturday said that the union territory will reopen all educational institutions within the next two weeks amid improvement in the coronavirus situation. 

Schools had been shut down since January 15 after the union territory saw a surge in covid cases. Jammu and Kashmir had reported 458 fresh covid cases and 3 deaths on Saturday taking the total number of positive cases to 45,0331. 

Meanwhile, Bihar and Delhi had also reopened schools for offline classes for standards 9 to 12 with full capacity across the state in the wake of the decline in Covid cases, officials said. Educational institutes had been closed in Bihar since January 6 and in Delhi since December 28, 2021 due to a spike in Covid-19 cases in the states.
