Ahmedabad: During a cleanliness drive under Prime Minister's Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, a school in Chandkedheda discovered Rs 1 crore cash and 21 gold bars worth Rs 59 lakh stashed away in a locker.
The Kendriya Vidyalaya School in the ONGC campus in Chandkheda participated in the Clean India drive on Saturday. While cleaning some lockers that hadn't been open since a while and looked filthy, the school staff found the valuables and a brief case that containing Rs 1 crore.
The school principal instantly rang up the police.
Mahendra Bagariya, deputy commissioner of police in Chandkedheda confirmed the details of the items discovered and said that each of those 21 gold bars were of 100g each.
The police have informed the income-tax department and will further probe into the case.
