Coimbatore: Sarang, the helicopter display team in the 43rd Wing Air Force, Sulur, near here, would display their skill at the annual Air Force Day Celebration scheduled at Delhi on October eight.
The team, with four modified HAL Dhruv helicopters, would demonstrate exercises during the show, Air Commodore Umesh Kumar, Air Commanding Officer, 43rd wing, told the visiting reporters today.
Highlighting the roles played by helicopters and the team in natural calamities, including at Uttarakhand and Hogenakkal, Umesh said that team has won laurels for its humanitarian contribution through rescue operations.
About the expansion of Sulur air base, the official said that the works were progressing well and on the right track.
On inducting ‘Tejas' into Air Force, Umesh said that it has to be decided by the Defence Ministry. However, he expressed hope that it would take a year or two.
