New Delhi: Swedish aerospace and defence major Saab said Friday that state-run Airports Authority of India (AAI) has selected its runway safety equipment advanced-surface movement guidance and control systems (A-SMGCS) at five of its airports.
"This (A-SMGCS) will enable the airports to operate in a safe manner while efficiently meeting the demand of growing air traffic," said Lars-Olof Lindgren, head of market area Saab India.
According to the company, Saab will be deploying its A3000 A-SMGCS at Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Guwahati, Jaipur, and Lucknow Airports.
Previously, Saab had deployed A-SMGCS at Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai Airports and an A-SMGCS, multilateration and SMR at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The company added that the A3000 is one of the widely deployed A-SMGCS, with more than 40 sites around the world, including multiple locations in Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
In addition Saab's surface multilateration is also in operation or being deployed to more than 60 sites around the world.
