Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday afternoon, official sources told news agency PTI. The telephonic talks will follow Modi's scheduled conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
PM Modi's interaction with the two leaders comes amid India's all out efforts to evacuate its nationals, mostly students, from Ukraine, facing attack from Russia.
This will be the second time PM Modi will speak to Zelensky since the war began. PM Modi had spoken to Zelensky last on February 26, days after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine.
The Prime Minister has also spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin twice after he launched an attack on Ukraine.
Today is the 12th day of Russia's invasion of Ukraine which Putin wants to demilitarize. A temporary ceasefire between the two neighbouring countries has failed after two rounds of talks as both sides blamed each other for the crisis.
