Rubina Ali, the child star of Slumdog Millionaire, is homeless again, after her shanty was razed in an encroachment clearance drive by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), reports Hindustan Times.
BMC officials on Wednesday razed 50 houses that they said were encroaching on railway land in the Garib Nagar slum of Mumbai, where Rubina lives with her family.
A similar demolition in May destroyed her last home, and she is now living with relatives in the same area, behind Bandra railway station.
Her Slumdog Millionaire co-star Azharuddin Ismail and his family moved into a new apartment given by Danny Boyle's Jai Ho Trust a few months ago.
When contacted, Rubina's manager Dinesh Dubey said, "We worked through the night and set up the shanty all over again, since we don't have any other place to go. Trust has given Rubina Rs 32 lakh which we will use to buy a flat in Bandra."
