Mumbai, Mar 9: The Reserve Bank today said it will soon start circulating coins to commemorate the 150th anniversary of freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malaviya.
The coins of Rs 5 denomination have been minted by the Government and the central bank will soon be putting them into circulation, the RBI said in a notification.
The face of the coin shall bear the picture of the freedom fighter and also mention the years “1861-2011”, it said.
The metal coins will have copper, nickel and zinc, and will be circular, having a circular diameter of 23 mm, the RBI said.
