Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his condolence to Rishi Kapoor's family and friends. "Multifaceted, endearing and lively...this was Rishi Kapoor Ji. He was a powerhouse of talent. I will always recall our interactions, even on social media. He was passionate about films and India’s progress. Anguished by his demise. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti," PM Modi said in a tweet.
Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also joined in with the political fraternity to condole the death of Rishi Kapoor. "Saddened by the sudden demise of #RishiKapoor who left a profound imprint on Bollywood by his versatile acting. Have grown up watching many of his films since my student days. A great loss to the world of creativity. My sincere condolences! ॐ शान्ति!!," he said.
A number of politicians, influential personalities are expressing their condolence on the demise of veteran personality Rishi Kapoor. A while back, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's husband Robert Vadra has also paid tribute to Rishi Kapoor saying, "Terrible to read and hear of the sad demise of Mr Rishi Kapoor. My heartfelt condolences to his family and the entire kapoor family. I knew him well and he was a person who was always smiling and did give good advice. Watched his movies in my teens."
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has led the condolences over the death of Rishi Kapoor. Rahul has expressed his sorrow over the death of the actor and called this 'terrible week for Indian cinema'. "This is a terrible week for Indian cinema, with the passing of another legend, actor Rishi Kapoor. A wonderful actor, with a huge fan following across generations, he will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family, friends & fans all over the world, at this time of grief," he tweeted.
Another senior Congress leader, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gahlot also tweeted condoling the death of the legendary actor. "Saddened to know veteran actor #RishiKapoor has passed away. Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change; Information & Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar also expressed his grief over the passing away of Rishi Kapoor. "The sudden demise of actor Rishi Kapoor is shocking. He was not only a great actor but a good human being. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and fans. Om Shanti," he tweeted.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also expressed his condolence to the Kapoor family. In his tweet Kejriwal sai, "Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of actor Rishi Kapoor. He entertained several generations of Indians throughout his career. What a terrible loss.. My condolences to the grieving family. May God bless his soul."
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in his tweet, said that Rishi Kapoor had carved a special place in the hearts of his fans. "Anguished by the passing away of noted film actor Rishi Kapoor. He carved a special place in the hearts of his fans with his inimitable style and performances. My thoughts are with his family and fans in this hour of grief. Om Shanti," he said.
Chief Minister of Karnataka, BS Yediyurappa, in his tweet, expressed his feeling of shock at the demise of Rishi Kapoor. "Shocked by the passing of another legend, and veteran actor, Rishi Kapoor. His way of mesmerising us with his stellar performances will be remembered and missed. Prayers to his family and loved ones. RIP," Yediyurappa tweeted.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar said that Indian film industry has lost a versatile and charismatic actor. "Saddened to know about the sad demise of veteren actor Rishi Kapoor. Actor turned politician Kiron Kher tweeted, "#RishiKapoor is no more. Heartbreaking. I would like to celebrate his life. Larger than life, outspoken & cheerful right to the end. Great actor, good friend. So many memories of you flow through my mind. You lived a full life. Well played Sir. Condolences to the family. #RIPSir"
Minister of State for Youth Affair and Sports, Kiren Rijiju tweeted a clip from 'Doosra Admi', an old film by Rishi Kapoor and said, "We grew up watching his films and love his acting. It's heartbreaking to hear that Rishi Kapoor is no more! It's irreplaceable loss for the world of cinema. He was truly a legend who will live on in our memory forever. My deepest condolences & pray for strength to his family"
Union Cabinet Minister for Textiles and Women & Child Development Smriti Irani also tweted to pay her respect to Rishi Kapoor. "Khannas, Kapoors and Malhotras he said will always love the good life, will always laugh gregariously ... make the heavens happy Rishi Sir. Will miss you Folded hands," she said.
