Vyapam scam: Jabalpur High Court stays MP Governor's arrest

Jabalpur: Madhya Pradesh High Court today stayed the arrest of Governor Ram Naresh Yadav in Vyapam scam, also known as  MP professional examination board scam. Special Task Force (STF) had registered an FIR against him in February.

Yadav's son Shailesh had also been made a co-accused by STF and was served a notice. He was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his father's official residence in Lucknow on March 25.

The scam that has shaken the MP government has involvement of several high profile people and is being probed by Special investigation Team (SIT) under the watch of High Court. The scam involves manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by MPPEB.

STF, which is working under the direction of SIT had lodged two FIRs on December 19 against former State Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma and 129 others in connection with alleged irregularities in the examination for the recruitment of Grade II and III Contractual Teachers.

Last week, Enforcement Directorate (ED) had attached properties of worth Rs 3 crore of the main accused Jagdish Sagar in connection with its money laundering probe in the scam.
