Mumbai: Mumbai Police commissioner Rakesh Maria has slammed media for unnecessarily meddling with the work of police force.
In an interview to Hindi daily Dainik Bhashkar, Maria said that News channels are themselves interrogating people linked to the case and drawing their own conclusions.
Maria alleged that media is trying to divert the mind of people. “Media's is unnecessarily interfering with the work of the police. We are facing problems in interrogation and collecting evidences related to the case,” he said.
Adding that Mumbai Police's reputation is at stake Maria expressed confidence that he would not let this case become another Aarushi.
Mumbai top cop also said that it was first time that Mumbai Police is taking help of the Digital facial imposition which helps in reconstructing the face of the victim.
While stressing on the importance of DNA in the case, Maria also said that Cyber team's role is crucial given the extensive use of computers, skype and phone in the crime.
My team is working ceaselessly to solve the case. Some of my officers have not gone home since the day the driver was arrested, Maria added.
On being asked how interrogating Indrani was different from Kasab, Maria said unlike Kasab, Indrani is educated, so patience was needed to interrogate her thoroughly.
Maria also said that since the case is three and half years old, it is diffcult to gather evidences.
Maria, whose promotion to the post of director general of police is due this month, is working tirelessly to connect all the loose ends of the case.
Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai have been arrested on the charge of murdering Sheena and disposing of the body in a Raigad forest in April 2012.
