The Rajya Sabha Privileges Committee has taken action by issuing notices to five MPs from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for a complaint of breach of privilege. The MPs in question are K Keshava Rao, K R Suresh Reddy, Damodar Rao Divakonda, Vaddiraju Ravichandra, and B Lingaiah Yadav. They have been asked to provide their responses to the notices by November 28.
This action comes after a complaint was filed by BJP MP Vivek Thakur, who alleged that the BRS MPs had displayed placards during the special session of Parliament on September 18, which he claimed was in violation of established rules of conduct. Thakur's complaint also contended that the behavior of the BRS MPs had caused undue disruptions in the Council of States' proceedings and had lowered the dignity of the Council. The complaint was considered by the chairman and subsequently referred to the Privileges Committee on October 17 for examination, investigation, and reporting.
