Chennai: S Nalini, a life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case has moved Madras High Court seeking parole for a month to be besides her ailing 90-year-old father Ambalavanapuram who is now residing in Tirunelveli in southern Tamil Nadu.
The Madras High Court on Wednesday ordered issue of notice to the Additional Public Prosecutor on a petition filed by S Nalini.
Nalini is confined in the Special Prison for women at Vellore for the past 22 years.
In her petition, she appealed to a bench comprising Justices S Rajeswaran and P N Prakash, to grant the parole as it has been eight years since she met her father Sankara Naryanan.
She has also mentioned that she utilised ordinary leave of three days in the past 22 years for the purpose of attending her brother's marriage but returned after availing only one day.
Nalini mentioned in her petition that she applied to the Additional Director-General of Prison on December 12 last year to grant her ordinary leave for a month. As it was not granted, she filed the present plea.
