After a month of battle to save his own government, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot clinched a decisive victory as his government won trust vote in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly on Friday (August 14). Signs of such a victory were visible on Thursday as Sachin Pilot who was engaged in political battle with Ashok Gehlot attended Congress Legislative Party meeting chaired by the Rajasthan CM. Ashok Gehlot's victory in Rajasthan Assembly marks the end of political brawl that lasted for a month and threatened to oust Congress from a big state like Rajasthan which it continues to rule.
BJP tried some last-minute sabre-rattling on Thursday as it said that a no-confidence motion would be brought against Gehlot government. Leader of the Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria made the declaration after legislature party meet of the BJP on Thursday.
However, this was countered by Ashok Gehlot who said a confidence-motion will be brought in the assembly by the government. This was indicative of the confidence he had in the numbers that he had.
Attendance of Sachin Pilot for Congress Legislative Party meeting on Thursday was a big development. Both Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot were all smiles and shook hands.
The Rajasthan crisis that raged for a month seems to have ended with Ashok Gehlot emerging as a victor. Sachin Pilot has not lost so much as well, but he has shown his political strength and indicated that he is a force to be reckoned with.
