Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot yesterday said Rajasthan's “Affordable Housing Policy” was being appreciated across the country and the government intends to implement the scheme in all 33 districts.



Speaking on the occasion of distributing possession letters of newly constructed houses under the scheme at Bagru-Khurd Thikaria village near Jaipur, Gehlot said the scheme was declared in the budget of 2009 and was targeted at providing houses to 1.25 lakh families.

The scheme, which has been widely appreciated, is meant for economically weaker, low and middle income group people with participation of private sector, he said.  

“Construction of houses has been approved in Jaipur, Chaksu, Ajmer, Dausa, Kuchaman City, Bhiwadi and Udaipur in the first phase.

The second phase would include 14 other cities and till now 53,690 flats have been constructed. We want to extend the scope the scheme,” he said.

“The government has also increased subsidy for house construction under Mukhya Mantri BPL Housing Scheme from Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000,” Gehlot said, adding that the state government is willing to ensure the right of shelter to every citizen.

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Dr Girija Vyas was also present on the occasion.
