Lucknow, Jul 23: With south-west monsoon remaining normal and the state receiving moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers at some places with very heavy rains at isolated places, majority of rivers have registered an upward trend in Uttar Pradesh today.
110 mm rainfall was recorded in Kakrahi (Siddharthnagar), 90 mm in Bansi and 50 mm in Lucknow and Bareilly. Forecast for the next 24 hours is rain and thundershowers will occur at few places over the state, MeT office sources said.
The Central Water Commission (CWC) office sources said Ganga continued to flow close to danger mark at Fatehgarh, Kannauj, Ankinghat (Kanpur dehat) and Kanpur and was rising all through its course from Ankin Ghat to Ballia.
Yamuna was also in spate flowing close to the red mark at Prayag Ghat (Mathura), while Sharda river was flowing above danger mark at Palia Kalan, they said.
Ghaghra continued to flow above the red mark at Elgin Bridge in Barabanki, Ayodhya and Turtipar in Ballia, CWC sources said adding, Rapti river was also flowing near danger level at Bhinga (Shrawasti), Balrampur, Bansi, Regauli and Birdghat.
Burhi Rapti river has crossed the red mark at Kakrahi in Siddharthnagar and was rising, while Kunhara and Rohin rivers were rising fast and flowing near the red mark at Uska Bazar (Siddharthnagar) and Trimohini Ghat at Maharajganj with Quano river was also flowing near danger level at Mukhlispur.
