New Delhi, Jan 18: Rains lashed the National Capital Region through the night with hailstones falling at several places. The rainfall recorded in Delhi was 17.2 mm.
There was a steep decline in temperature, with the morning temperature hovering at 12.8 deg C at 5:30 am.
The season's heaviest snowfall was reported in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, where snowfall has been continuing for the last 24 hours. The manali-Kully national highway has been cloised to trafffic, with snow covering the highway for several kilometres.
Hundreds of tourists are presently held up in Manali.
The Jammu-Srinagar national highway is also closed due to snowfall and bad weather. Snowfall is continuing in Srinagar and other places of the Kashmir valley.
