New Delhi, Oct 18: The Centre on Thursday approved payment of productivity-linked
bonus (PLB) to 12.37 lakh non-gazetted employees, equivalent to 78 days of pay, before the
Dussera Puja holidays.
Clearing the proposal, the Union Cabinet fixed the salary ceiling at Rs. 3,500 a month for the payment of bonus to eligible employees.
The Indian
Railways will have to bear an outgo of Rs. 1021.56 crore on account of the payment of PLB calculated for the financial year 2011-12.
The PLB for the year 2011-12 has been retained at 78 days of pay, as permitted in the previous financial year, when the financial implication was higher at 1098.58 crore, as it covered 12.61 lakh employees.
