Thane: The Thane and Palghar district passengers association today urged the Centre and Maharashtra government to provide a rail link between Dahanu and Kalyan and a metro or monorail service between Ambadi and Vasai.
A rail link on the 120-km Dahanu-Kalyan stretch for a population of around 25 lakhs, specially tribals, would give better travelling options to them which in-turn would provide them more employment opportunities, association president Om Prakash Sharma told reporters here.
The route consists of Dahanu-Malwada, Wada-Sagaon, Ambadi Road, Dugad, Mhapoli, Padgha, Khadavali and Kalyan areas.
The association has also suggested metro or monorail service on the 45-km Ambadi-Vasai route, which could also provide a link between the Central and Western rail lines, he said.
The government is in the process of finalising a metro rail network upto Thane which could well be extended and with additional provisions operated between Ambadi and Vasai, he said.
