New Delhi: Former CSIR chief Dr R Mashelkar and yoga guru B K S Iyengar have been chosen for the Padma Vibushan awards this year.
Besides Mashelkar, others who are being rewarded for their exemplary work include noted film actor Kamal Haasan, Tamil lyricist V R Thevar and Tennis player Leander Paes.
Whereas, cricketer Yuvraj Singh, cine stars Paresh Rawal and Vidya Balan, sand artists Sudarsan Pattnaik and theatre artist Bansi Kaul were among 101 selected for this year's Padma Shri.
The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year.
These awards are conferred by the President of India at ceremonial functions which are held at Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March/ April every year.
The list comprises of 2 Padma Vibhushan, 24 Padma Bhushan and 101 Padma Shri Awardees.
27 of the Awardees are women and the list also includes 10 persons from the category of foreigners, NRIs, PIOs and Posthumous Awardees.
