Punjab: A rocket launcher attack took place on a police station in Punjab's Tarn Taran on Saturday morning. According to official sources, the incident took place at 1 am in which the building, housing the police station, suffered minor damage.
Speaking to reporters present at the site of the attack, Sarhali Police Station SHO, Prakash Singh said, " The forensic team will tell you what exactly it is. They are checking everything and they will tell you. Nobody was injured."
Some unidentified people fired the projectile at the Sarhali police station located on the Amritsar-Bathinda highway, official sources said. A door glass leading to the police station was broken during the attack. Senior police officials have reached the spot to take stock of the situation. The projectile first struck the iron grills of the gate of the police station and then hit the Saanjh Kendra centre.
Saanjh Kendra centre provides services like copy of FIRs, passport verification and no-objection certificates. The suspected RPG did not explode, they further said. There were some police personnel present at the police station when the incident took place.
This is not the first time that a situation like this has taken place. Earlier in May, a rocket-propelled grenade was fired at the Punjab Police's Intelligence headquarters located in Mohali. READ MORE
