Evidence gathered so far by the investigators probing the German Bakery blast here has indicated a distinct possibility of the use of remote control as the triggering mechanism, a top police official said on Thursday .

"Although it has not been conclusively established, the inputs put together by the experts analysing the data points at the use of remote trigger," Pune Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh told reporters in Pune. Singh said the evidence at this stage also suggested the quantity of RDX used in the blast could be "moderate". Forensic Laboratory has identified RDX among the explosives used in the German Bakery terror attack, the other being ammonium nitrate.

Asked whether the CCTV camera installed at German Bakery, was operating at the time of the blast on February 13, he said "It was operating, but was focused on the cash counter."

The investigators are examining the CCTV footage both from the blast site and an adjacent five star hotel that too had CCTV system installed, capturing a portion of the bakery structure. PTI
