New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
“On the joyous occasion of Raksha Bandhan,a I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens in India and abroad. May this festival be an occasion for re-dedication to the well-being of women,” the President said.
The festival of Rakhi spreads harmony and celebrates brotherhood. Rakhi is a sacred thread of protection embellished with the affection of a sister for her brother. It symbolizes the inseparable bond of love between brothers and sisters. This gesture is not a mere ritual, but a powerful act that obligates everyone to ensure the safety and security of women.
The Vice President in his message said, “I offer my greetings and good wishes to the citizens of our country on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan. May this festival bring peace, love and amity in the society.”
The Prime Minister said, "On this auspicious occasion of Rakhi, I extend warm wishes to the people of the country."
