New Delhi: Continuing in the series of shuffling duties and provinces of Governors after the formation of new Government in the centre, the President of India Pranab Mukherjee has made three big decisions today.
Dr. (Smt.) Kamla Beniwal, Governor of Gujarat is transferred and appointed as Governor of Mizoram for the remainder of her term vice Shri Vakkom Purushothaman.
Secondly, Shri Vakkom Purushothaman, presently Governor of Mizoram is transferred and appointed as Governor of Nagaland for the remainder of his term.
Thirdly, Smt. Margaret Alva, Governor of Rajasthan to discharge the functions of the Governor of Gujarat, in addition to her own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Gujarat are made.
Whereas, Shri Vakkom Purushothaman will continue to hold the additional charge of the office of the Governor of Tripura.
The above appointments will take effect from the dates the incumbents assume charge of their respective offices. Press Secretary to the President Venu Rajamony has issued the release today evening to inform about the decision.
