Firozabad: A group of women who were protesting over an accident on National Highway-2 were lathicharged by UP policemen on Monday night to clear the highway in Firozabad.
The cops were seen beating women with lathis, slapping and even kicking them.
National Commission for Women chairperson, Mamta Sharma has blamed the UP government's " insensitive"attitude for such action against women.
Sharma told mediapersons she would speak to the Police Commissioner regarding the incident and would demand strict action against the erring policemen.
The SHO, who ordered lathi charge on women, has been recognized as Sri Prakash Yadav from Rasulpur Police station.
One constable was suspended and two others were shifted to the Police lines.
