Bangalore: Five babies have been rescued by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials in a raid from Frazer town and Kammanahalli, Bangalore. These babies are suspected to be kidnapped by a group of beggars. It could also be case where these babies have been sold by their parents due to poverty, according to the Police
The baby boy and four baby girls have been sent to rescue home run by the Department of Women and Child Welfare.
A Tamil man and a woman from Rajasthan have been arrested in the raid conducted by the CCB Officials and the CCB Officials also suspect that poor couples might have sold them for money.
The police have booked the arrested persons under Section 370 of Indian Penal Code (buying or disposing of any person as a slave) and the Juvenile Justice Act Section 23 (punishment for cruelty to juvenile or child) and Section 24 (employment of juvenile or child for begging).
Drugs and sleeping pills were also recovered from the arrested persons which they are supposed to have given to babies for begging.
According to the Police, efforts are on to nab other members of the racket
