Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday morning sought the blessings of his mother Hiraba on the occasion of his 64th birthday.
Donning saffron kurta, Modi drove to his mother's residence in Gandhinagar. He touched the feet of his mother and spent time there.
Churma ke laddoo, lapsi and kansar were offered to the Prime Minister by mother Hiraba when he arrived for her blessings.
"PM Narendra Modi met his mother in Gandhinagar, Gujarat this morning. The Prime Minister sought the blessings of his mother," the Prime Minister's Office said in a tweet.
Hiraba also gave Modi Rs 5,001 for the Prime Minister`s National Relief Fund. The Prime Minister had earlier urged people that his birthday should not be celebrated and instead they should help the Jammu and Kashmir flood victims.
Hiraba, a quiet lady who is proud of her son, stays with her another son Pankaj Modi who is an employee of the state information department in Gandhinagar.
Hiraba has four sons Somabhai, Narendra, Prahlad, Pankaj and daughter Vasantiben.
Tight security arrangements were made at Pankaj's residence.
