PM Narendra Modi is addressing a mega rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan. The prime minister's rally in the national capital has come at a time when massive protests are taking place in Delhi and several other states against the Citizenship Amendment Act and NRC.

The Prime Minister began his address by saying "unity in diversity is India's speciality."

"Even after several decades after Independence, a large section of population in Delhi had to face fear, uncertainty, deceit and false electoral promises. Illegal, sealing, bulldozer and a cut-off date — life of a large population in Delhi' was confined around these words," PM Modi said.

Speaking on unauthorised colonies, PM Modi said, "You should know what those people, whom you were asking for something for yourself, were doing. They had illegally given 2000 lavish bungalows to their people. No one knows what was given to whom in lieu of that."

Kicking off BJP's Delhi poll campaign, PM Modi hit out at the current and previous governments in Delhi accusing them of stalling and delaying various development projects.

The Prime Minister said, "Had the Delhi government not politicised the phase 4 project of Delhi metro, its work would have started much earlier. That is why I say that those who do politics in your name, never understood your pain, they never intended to do that."

As expected, PM Modi spoke on the Citizenship Amendment Act saying rumours and fake propaganda is being spread about the Citizenship Act.

PM Modi appealed to the people at his rally to stand up and pay respect to all those lawmakers of both the Houses of the Parliament who have played their role in passing the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Coming down heavily on the opposition and all those raising questions on government's intent behind Citizenship Amendment Act, PM Modi said, "some political parties are spreading rumours, they're misleading people and inciting them. I want to ask them, when we authroised the unauthrosied colonies, did we ask anyone their religion? Did we ask which political party they support? Did we ask for documents from 1970,1980?"

"Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians all were befitted, everyone who lives here was benefitted. Why did we do this? Because we live for the love of the country. We are dedicated to the mantra of Sabka saath, sabka vikas," PM Modi mentioned.

Appealing to those involved in violent protests against CAA, PM Modi asked them to burn as many effigies of him but do not hurt the poor man by damaging and setting their belongings, assets on fire.

Modi also cleared the air on the lies being spread on the National Registrar of Citizens saying oppositions parties are only interested in spreading rumours. NRC has neither come to the cabinet nor in the Parliament, nobody knows anything about it just fake information is being spread.

PM appealed to people don't believe on the lies being spread by Congress and like parties.

On detention centres, PM Modi reiterated that there are no detention centres in the country, again lies are being spread by those who have vested interests.

"There is a very simple difference, an infiltrator never reveals his identity and a refugee never hides his identity. Many of these infiltrators are coming out and speaking. Why don't they speak the truth? They are scared that their reality will come out," Modi added.

The Prime Minister continued his attack on the opposition which is opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act saying, "We had a chance to expose Pakistan's discrimination against minorities but it was lost due to our rivals' politics."

PM Modi also hit out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for demanding a UN referendum on CAA, NRC saying, "Mamata didi went from Kolkata to UN. Few years back, she was pleading before Parliament that infiltrators coming from Bangladesh should be stopped. Didi what has happened you? Why did you change? Why are you spreading rumours? Elections come & go. Why are you scared?"

"2 weeks ago, a daughter was born at Majnu-ka-tila who was named 'nagarikta'. I want to ask miscreants and people engaged in remote control politics, if lives of  'nagarikta' and her parents become easy, if problem of any citizen of country is solved, why does it pain you?" he said.

"I am very confident that those who are standing with the tricolour in their hands will also raise voice against Pakistan sponsored terrorism. They will inspire people to do that," Prime Minister further said.

According to a top intelligence department source, over one lakh people are attending PM Modi's rally.

Earlier, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik held several meetings on Saturday to review the security situation ahead of the rally.

Ahead of PM's rally earlier in the day, senior BJP leader Vijay Goel in a statement said that the event is being organised to thank PM Modi for giving ownership rights to 40 lakh residents of 1731 unauthorised colonies.
