Andhra Pradesh: PM Modi inaugurates projects worth Rs 2 lakh cr says 'we are working with full dedication'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth over Rs 2 lakh crore in Andhra Pradesh. The initiatives include expressways, modern port facilities, and renewable energy projects, aiming to transform the state’s infrastructure and economy.
On his maiden visit to Andhra Pradesh after the formation of the TDP-led NDA government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled several reform initiatives aimed at infrastructure, green energy, and regional development that have improved. These projects, worth over Rs 2 lakh crore, mainly focus on development in North Andhra Pradesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to boost the income and business prospects of fishermen in Andhra Pradesh.“We are working with full dedication to improve the livelihoods of our brothers and sisters in the fisheries sector,” said Modi. He also highlighted the introduction of facilities like the 'Kisan Credit Card' for fishermen and efforts to enhance safety at sea. The Prime Minister stressed that the government aims to ensure inclusive growth and ensure that development reaches all segments of society.
Infrastructure and connectivity revolution for Andhra
In his speech, the Prime Minister also highlighted the tremendous progress made in the infrastructure sector, especially in the railway sector. “Andhra Pradesh has completed 100% electrification in railways, and over 70 railway stations are being developed under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Yojana’,” he noted. He also inaugurated 7 trains of Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat which have been introduced with the aim of emphasis will be placed on improving transportation and connectivity for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Vision of USD 2.5 billion economy in Andhra Pradesh
PM Modi stressed that modern infrastructure and improved connectivity would be crucial for the transformation of Andhra Pradesh. "This industry transformation will make living and doing business easier, laying the foundation for the state’s vision of a USD 2.5 trillion economy." He reiterated the strategic importance of Visakhapatnam and the coastal areas in India’s business history and reaffirmed the government’s focus on unlocking the full potential of the blue economy.
The Prime Minister inaugurated various projects and laid foundation stones with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan during his visit to Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
Green Hydrogen hub at Pudimadaka
As part of India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of NTPC Green Energy Limited's (NGEL) green hydrogen hub at Pudimadka in Ankapale district. The Rs 1.85 lakh crore scheme will use 20 GW of renewable energy to produce 1,500 tonnes of green hydrogen per day and 7,500 tonnes of green hydrogen products such as methanol, urea and sustainable aviation fuel for export.
The project is in line with India’s ambitious target of 500 GW of fossil fuel-free energy by 2030 and reinforces the country’s commitment to sustainability.
Infrastructure development through rail, road projects
PM Modi also announced various railway projects worth Rs 19,500 crore. They include the foundation of the South Coast Railway Zone (SCoR) headquarters in Visakhapatnam, meeting the long-standing requirements of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. The Rs 149 crore project aims to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth.
Bulk drug park and industrial corridors
PM Modi launched a Rs 1,438 crore bulk drug park in Nakkapalli, Anakapalle district, strategically located near the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC). This park is expected to generate thousands of jobs and strengthen industrial activity in the region.
Additionally, he virtually inaugurated the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (KRIS City) in the Tirupati district under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor. The Rs 10,500 crore greenfield project is envisioned as a smart industrial city that will create nearly one lakh direct and indirect jobs.
A vision for sustainable growth
These projects reaffirm the central government’s focus on green energy and regional development, paving the way for Andhra Pradesh to emerge as a hub for sustainable industrialization and employment generation. With investments flowing into key sectors, the state is set to play a pivotal role in India’s economic and environmental goals.
