Parliament Monsoon Session HIGHLIGHTS: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw introduced the Railways (Amendment) Bill 2024 in Parliament. The bill seeks to enhance the functioning and independence of the Railway Board.

Rajya Sabha on Friday witnessed an intense discussion as the opposition walked out following a heated exchange with Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. Significantly, the uproar grew around the request submitted by the opposition to the chairman to expunge BJP MP Tiwari's comments over the Leader of the Opposition.

    Waqf Amendment Bill: Lok Sabha Speaker constitutes 31-member JPC, Owaisi, Imran Masood included

    Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday constituted a 31-member Joint Parliamentary Committee to look into the Waqf Amendment Bill. Out of 31 members, 21 MPs are from Lok Sabha, while rest 10 are from Rajya Sabha. Notably, AIMIM chief Asaddudin Owaisi and Congress MP Imran Masood have also been included in the committee. This comes a day after, Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday introduced The Waqf (Amendment) Bill and proposed sending it to a joint parliamentary committee after Opposition parties objected to its provision.
