The Pakistan Rangers targeted the Border Security Force (BSF) posts on the international border in R.S. Pura sector in Jammu Friday morning, a senior police officer said.

Mortar shells were used in the firing that started from the Pakistani side at around midnight. Some of the mortars landed in villages causing some damage. "The BSF has retaliated...effectively," a senior police officer said.

"The BSF has retaliated the firing effectively," the officer said.

Villagers in R.S.Pura and Arnia areas have been asked not to move out and switch off their lights during nights to avoid being targeted by the firing.
