The Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Arinjay on Tuesday apprehended a Pakistani boat Naz-Re-Karam in the Arabian Sea for alleged illegal fishing on Indian waters. The boat has been brought to Gujarat's Okha for rummaging and joint interrogation, according to PRO Defence Gujarat.
According to an official press release, the Indian boat was patrolling in the Arabian Sea when it observed a Pakistani fishing boat about 15 km inside Indian waters near the International Maritime Boundary Line on Tuesday (November 21).
"On being challenged, the boat started to flee towards Pakistan side however, the ICG ship intercepted the boat and stopped them in Indian waters. The boat was boarded and it was established that the PFB Naz-Re-Karam (Reg no. 15653-B) left from Karachi on 19 Nov 23 with 13 crew," it further said.
The crew members reportedly could not explain the fishing being done inside Indian waters and the boat has been brought to Okha, where all agencies will conduct a joint investigation.
