Amritsar, Aug 14: Pakistan Rangers officials exchanged sweets with India's Border Security Force (BSF) on the occasion of Pakistan Independence Day on Wednesday (August 14).
 




Pakistan Rangers Director General Mian Mohammad Hilal Hussain offered sweets to Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Border Security Force, M S Farooqui, at the Wagah - Attari Border in Punjab.
 
Farooqui said that they accepted the sweets, as it was part of their customs and traditions.
 
    “On the occasion of Pakistan Independence Day, they offered sweets and we accepted it as it is part of our tradition and on similar occasions we also exchange fruits and sweets as a goodwill gesture. So, on their independence day they exchanged sweets and we accepted it,” said Farooqui.
 
Similar celebrations were witnessed in Firozpur district where Pakistan Rangers also greeted and exchanged sweets with border guards of India.
 
The Commander of the paramilitary, Border Security Force, Pushpendra Singh Rathore, said that they greeted the officials of Pakistan.
 
    “According to our tradition and policy, Pakistan Rangers presented sweets to border guards of India on the occasion of Pakistan Independence Day. We greeted the officials of Pakistan,” said Rathore.
 
The exchange of sweets took place in the backdrop of cross-border killings on Aug 6, when five Indian Army jawans were ambushed in Poonch.
