Vadodara: Legendary athlete and Arjuna awardee P T Usha took part in the citizens' run here this yesterday evening to spread the message of freeing the city from garbafge and plastic waste.
Usha started the run holding a torch at 5.45 pm from Mahatma Gandhi Nagargruh and passed through several areas before finishing at Trident Circle near Vadi Wadi fire station. She covered the distance of 4.5 km.
“I enjoyed participating in citizens' run as large number of youths and citizens accompanied me,” she said after the run.
Usha was joined in the run by members of football, hockey associations apart from eminent citizens.
MS Tejal Amin chair person of Vadodara Marathon and main organiser of the Citizens run, expressed happiness over large number of participation of the sports associations and sorts associations participating in it and presenting a picture of unity.
BJP MP and former city mayor Balkrishna Shukla, chairman of the standing committee of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation Dr Hitendra Patel and Vadodara District Collector Vinod Rao took part in it .
“Usha also met citizens and participants at different places.
The event has been organised as a run up to Vadodara International Half Marathon that will be held in the city on December 1,” the organisers said.
