New Delhi: In the last ten years, Delhi has seen over 90 per cent increase in the number of electricity consumers.
As per Delhi Economic Survey, tabled today by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, during the period of 2005-06 to 2014-15, the number of consumers of electricity in Delhi increased from 28.38 lakh to 54.05 lakh.
"The number of electricity consumers in Delhi has grown by 90.47 per cent during the last ten years, that has increased 25.67 lakh consumers from 2005-06 to 2014-15," the survey stated.
Apart from that, it also said that the distribution of electricity in Delhi to various categories of consumers increased from 13,583 million units in 2005-06 to 25,111 million units in 2014-15.
"The total power purchase in Delhi has grown by 59.26 per cent during the last ten years, that has increased from 23,537 MU in 2005-06 to 37,484 MU in 2014-15. While 13.17 per cent of total power purchase is sourced from own generation by Delhi govt Power Plants, 86.83 per cent is purchased from Central govt and other sources," it added.
