Chandigarh: More than 63.81 lakh tonnes of wheat has so far arrived in various mandis of Haryana during the current procurement season as compared to over 58.31 lakh tonnes arrived during the corresponding period last year.
A spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said the government agencies have procured 63.79 lakh tonnes of wheat whereas 2,229 tonnes of wheat has been purchased by traders.
He said HAFED has purchased the highest - 24.66 lakh tonnes of wheat, followed by 17.69 lakh tonnes purchased by Food and Supplies Department.
Similarly, Agro Industries Corporation has purchased 5.66 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation (6.25 lakh tonnes), CONFED (1.60 lakh tonnes) and Food Corporation of India had procured 7.91 lakh tonnes of wheat during the current procurement season so far.
He said that Sirsa is leading in the wheat arrival where over 9.18 lakh tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis, followed by Fatehabad with 6.95 lakh tonnes.
Farmers have been asked to bring dry and properly cleaned wheat in the mandis so that they might not face any difficulty while selling their produce, he added.
