Guwahati, Oct 24: One person was killed and three others were injured when suspected militants carried out a grenade attack in Chirang district of Assam's Bodo areas late Wednesday, police said.
A senior Assam Police official told IANS that the incident took place near the railway tracks in Basugaon area in Chirang, 150 km away from Assam's main city Guwahati and is one of the four districts of Bodoland Territorial Areas Districts (BTAD).
Police said two grenades were lobbed but one of them failed to explode and was recovered from the site.
Investigations are on to find out the particular militant outfit involved in the blast, they added.
Chirang was one of the three districts hit by the recent clashes between the Bodos and Bengali-speaking Muslim settlers.
