Bhubaneswar, Apr 15: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today left for a five-day visit to New Delhi during which he would attend the meeting on internal security convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
“The prime minister has called a meeting of chief ministers on internal security of the country. I should be attending that meeting,” Patnaik told reporters before leaving for New Delhi.
The chief minister said he would also meet some union ministers and discuss with them various developmental and welfare programmes for the state.
A number of demands of the state would also be discussed with them, he said.
The issue relating to abduction of ruling BJD MLA Jhina Hikaka and two Italian nationals is likely to figure during Patnaik's meetings with central ministers, sources said.
The chief minister is scheduled to return on April 19, the sources added.
