Bhubaneshwar: Odisha Police received an anonymous letter on Thursday which threatened to blow up Odisha's assembly, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's residence and the state BJP headquarters.
The threat came in a postcard addressed to the chief of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate.
According to police, the letter threatened to blow up the three places with timer bombs.
The postcard having landed just a day before the start of the budget session of the Assembly has necessitated further tightening of the security.
Director General of Police, Sanjiv Marik has confirmed that all necessary precautions have been taken to avoid any untoward incident.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sayabrat Bhoi has been assigned to inquire about the anonymous letter and its sender.
Thirty platoons of police and two units of the Special Operations Group (SOG) have also been deployed at strategic points.
