Nursery admission: SC seeks govt's reply on parents' plea

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today sought a response from the Delhi government on a plea of four parents that their children be also granted admission in nursery class under the inter-state transfer category in

The parents said the children, who were earlier awarded 75 out of 100 points, under neighbourhood and the inter-state transfer categories, were successful in getting admission.

However, DoE on February 27 came out with a fresh notification doing away with five points under the inter-state transfer category.

The Supreme Court, later, set aside the DoE decision, but made clear that only those 24 children, whose parents had approached it, would get the admission.

The four parents, who moved the court today, are seeking same relief.

According to the DoE guidelines, out of 100 points, children, who live within eight kilometres of a school, will get 70 points while 20 points will be given to those whose sibling study in the same school.

Five points will be given to those kids whose parents were alumni of the school and the remaining five points will be given under the inter-state transfer category.

The five points under the inter-state transfer category were later scrapped by DoE but the apex court had set aside the decision.
